Diploma Course 6-12 (2014-2016)

The Montessori 6-12 Diploma Course takes place from October 2014 till October 2016. It is the first elementary training in the Central and Eastern Europe and it is directed by Kay Baker Ph.D.

Course Director

Kay Baker Kay M. Baker, Ph.D.

Dr. Baker is an AMI director of Elementary (6-12) diploma course and examiner. After gaining teaching experience in both Primary and Elementary Montessori classrooms as well as traditional public school environments, she has spent the past 24 years conducting Montessori Elementary courses.

In addition to her AMI Primary and Elementary diplomas, Dr. Baker holds a Ph.D. in mathematics education from the University of Maryland, with her dissertation focusing on problem-solving strategies in children.

She is a consultant for AMI/USA for Primary and Elementary, and is the recipient of the North American Montessori Teachers’ Association (NAMTA) Lifetime Achievement Award.

To enroll to the course, please send a signed Course Application to our email registrace@amiprague.cz. The Organizer of the Course will confirm the enrollment of the potential course candidate as soon as the enrollment procedure allows it (examination of data, completion of required documents and an interview if necessary). The following requirements must be fulfilled for successful enrolment:

  • An application form must be filled in and submitted
  • Curriculum vitae must be submitted
  • Certificates of professional training and employment must be submitted
  • Admission interview in case that any questions need to be asked
  • Registration fee of EUR 200 must be sent to the bank account of the Organizer.

In order to teach at a Montessori School after successful completion of the training, a state school teaching diploma may be required. Although this is not a necessary requirement for admission to the training, we recommend checking whether such a certificate is needed in the country where the student intends to work.


All rules and conditions related to the course fees and payment are established by the Student Contract.

The fees are:

Registration fee: EUR 200 Due 10 days after submitting the application fee
Course fee and Exam fee: EUR10 400 In full due before November 2014, individual payment calendars may be established.
Cost of materials: EUR 1000 Students should budget extra funds for teaching materials which they will receive for their possession.
Basic Course 3-6: EUR 1 200 The Basic Course is a requirement for students who do not hold 3-6 AMI diploma.

There is no exemption from or refund of enrolment fees – the training fee is non-refundable.

Foundation Course

The Foundation Course is obligatory for students of AMI Elementary Training, who do not hold the AMI 3-6 Diploma. The Foundation takes place during 27 July – 28 August 2015 and will be led by Elina Rautasalo, AMI Trainer of Maria Montessori Institute in London. Price of the Foundation Course is 8. 2014 1 200 EUR or 33 000 Kč.
